The Story Behind Bantyr
Bantyr was born from a simple observation: many of the most important political conversations were happening in private, away from the public sphere where they could contribute to broader understanding and progress.
People were self-censoring their genuine political thoughts out of fear—fear of professional consequences, social ostracism, or personal attacks. This created an information environment dominated by the most extreme voices while silencing moderate perspectives and nuanced thinking.
We realized that anonymity, when implemented thoughtfully and responsibly, could be the key to unlocking honest political discourse. By removing the personal stakes from political expression, we could create space for the kind of thoughtful debate that democracy requires to function effectively.
